Mild forms of gum disease, called gingivitis, can be managed with meticulous professional cleaning over a series of appointments. Education and oral hygiene instruction may also be provided.

Advanced gum disease (periodontitis) can result in gum recession and subsequent tooth loss. In addition to thorough professional cleaning, gum measuring may be necessary to determine the health of the gum tissues. 

Where gum damage is extensive, referral to an endodontist for further assessment and treatment may be required. One of our dentists can organise a referral to a trusted endodontist colleague.
