First Time Attending?
Welcome!
We kindly request you arrive 10 minutes before your first appointment and familiarise yourself with the travel and parking options in advance, to ensure there is enough time for our dentist to see you.
At your first appointment, you will be asked to complete a ‘New Patient Form”. This form will ask a variety of questions including personal information, a brief medical history and health insurance information.
To assist us with creating a patient file, please bring along (if you can):
- A Driver’s licence or photo ID card
- Your Medicare Card
- Your private health insurance card
- Your Health Care Card (Concession card)
- Any medication you’re taking or a medication summary sheet from your GP or pharmacy
- Any recent x-rays or medical reports.
Our team is ready to assist you, so should you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Greenacre Dental Surgery is equipped with contemporary HICAPS and EFTPOS machines. We also accept cash and cheque payments.
Treatment accounts must be finalised at the end of each visit.
For complex and expensive dental work, a deposit must be made at the start of treatment.
Private Health Insurance
We accept all private health funds. If you have private health insurance, please bring your physical health fund card along to your appointment (digital cards on a smart phone will be accepted also).
Unfortunately, photos of your health fund card or the membership number are insufficient to finalise your account.
Gap Payments
Private health insurance covers a percentage of your dental treatment. The part that is not covered is called the ‘gap’ and the patient is required to pay this out-of-pocket cost.
At Greenacre Dental, we prioritise the reimbursement from your private health insurance. However, a gap payment may be outstanding after processing the treatment charges to your health fund.
Greenacre Dental’s gap payments are beneath industry standards and are only determined following an assessment of a patient’s insurance rebate.
We kindly request patients settle gap payments on the day of treatment, following the processing of their health insurance.
Unfortunately, our reception team is unable to approximate any out-of-pocket expenses from your health insurance. Patients are encouraged to enquire with their insurance provider to determine their out-of-pocket costs.
Child Dental Benefit Scheme
If your child is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CBDS) Medicare service, please bring your Medicare Card to the appointment.
The Medicare-funded CDBS provides up to $1000 of basic dental treatment for eligible children aged 2-17 year old over two calendar years in a private setting. Children of families who have a Health Care Card, and receive a Centrelink payment or Family Tax Benefit A may be eligible for this service.
You can determine your child’s eligibility by calling Medicare on 132 011 and following the prompts. Alternatively, reception will be able to check eligibility with your Medicare information.
The Australian Dental Association recommends that a child’s first visit to the dentist occurs between the ages of 6 months and 3 years, crucial years of dental development.
Regular checkups, examinations and cleans help identify early oral conditions, minimise the risk of decay and provide opportunities for oral hygiene instruction and education.
A child’s first visit to the dentist can be an overwhelming experience for both the child and their parents or guardian.
To prepare your child:
- Discuss visiting the dentist,
- Continue brushing and flossing teeth at home,
- Roleplay the dentist experience, using the child’s toys as patients,
- Practice counting your child’s teeth with a spoon or toothbrush,
- Have them inspect and count their teeth in the bathroom mirror,
- Read books about visiting the dentist.
A child must have a parent or guardian present at every appointment.
A parent or guardian will be asked to complete a ‘New Patient Form” at a child’s first visit to the surgery. This form will ask a variety of questions including personal information, a brief medical history and health insurance information. If your child is taking or using any medication, please include this on the New Patient form.
If your child is included in your private health insurance coverage, please bring along the physical or digital card to the appointment to finalise payment after treatment.
If your child is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CBDS) service, please bring your Medicare Card to the appointment.
